Signature Travel and BTI, two New Zealand travel companies merged to become BTI Signature Travel Ltd. The merger gave the new company an opportunity to review and certificate all of its operating processes and procedures to ISO 9001 standards.

"Back in 2002, a number of booking errors involved the company in extra costs to ensure that our customers were not affected. These errors were within our control if we could identify them early on, so we established a peer review process that picked up most of the problems before they started to cost us money. This process cut the number of errors by over 90 percent and lifted our profitability."

Bristol Babcock Controls (NZ) Ltd plans to export its measuring instruments, and Manager Colin Dale believes the company's management system will help their export drive.

Our clients with registered management systems are the main reason why we decided to implement Telarc Q-Base, says Mr Dale. We had done quite a bit of work towards achieving ISO 9000. But its scope was too large for a company of our small size. Enterprising Manukau was advertising a course in Q-Base, I went along and found it to be the practical answer. It has crystallised our operating systems and created a good work structure for our business. And it wasn't too time consuming to implement because we had already done a great deal of the work towards an efficient management system.

Flo-Dry Engineering is a small, privately-owned, Albany-based company specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of byproduct processing systems and technology.

"Telarc was the only company we contacted to help us through the ISO certification process. We knew it to be a reputable agency with a long track record in the certification area and that it had the capacity to deliver at very short notice. In June 2006, we had just 14-15 weeks to bid for a very important Australian project for which ISO 9001 was a prerequisite. Telarc auditors helped us meet that deadline and have since played a major role in encouraging us to maintain our quality management system and identify areas where further improvements can be made. Overall, Telarc's involvement in establishing and maintaining ISO standards has considerably improved the performance of Flo-Dry as a company."

GMS began its journey with ISO accreditation in 2019, needing an ISO 9001 accreditation to apply for a particular export license. Fast forward three years and we have just had our second review point for our three branches.

Telarc’s ISO audit program has helped us to develop a workable map of our business in the Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental standards and has challenged us to reach for higher standards in an industry where there are few professional standards.

This certification has been instrumental in us becoming confident in our ability to maintain our high standards and to continue to lift our game internationally while assisting others who work with us to do likewise.

Our entire team have embraced the ISO philosophy and the challenge to lift our compliance levels to exceptional standards of compliance in this industry.

Over a year ago, we embarked as a business to gain Telarc Registered Certifications for Environment ISO 14001, Quality ISO 9001 and Health & Safety ISO 45001. The certification was more about reviewing our existing systems and processes and identifying areas that we could improve on. The commitment to achieving these standards enabled us to start our journey on improving our systems and processes. Last week achieved our first goal of becoming ISO certified in the areas mentioned above. We have learned to date that this is a journey (not a destination) that has bought us today to certification. It has highlighted for Hanlon that we have good systems that we can improve through the use of technology and continuous improvement to make them great. It has helped us identify areas of the business that we were deficient in and systems and processes we could implement to improve.

New Plymouth company Whitaker Civil Engineering was awarded an International Arch of Europe Award for Quality Without its ISO 9001 Quality Management System, Whitaker Civil wouldn't have been eligible.
